As the Assistant School Principal , you will play a critical role in driving student achievement at the High School level by championing the consistent use of instructional best practices aligned with ChanceLight methodologies and Ombudsman policies. Your leadership will directly impact student success through strategies such as personalized computer-assisted learning, engaging teacher-led instruction, and collaborative small-group activities. You will foster and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment for students and staff, diligently adhering to established guidelines for addressing or reporting concerns and incidents.
Under the guidance and direction of the Center Operations Supervisor, you will provide essential leadership, quality assurance, and administrative oversight, ensuring effective daily management and continuous improvement of the Ombudsman site. Your commitment will empower educators, inspire students, and cultivate a culture dedicated to excellence and achievement.
‖ Responsibilities Include:
- Providing visionary leadership to drive student success and operational excellence by supervising staff, developing and executing performance management plans, identifying professional learning needs, and engaging actively in professional development opportunities.
- Participating proactively in the hiring process to build a highly effective site team; assigning tasks clearly, creating individualized professional growth plans, consistently evaluating employee performance, providing constructive coaching, acknowledging accomplishments, and promptly addressing concerns to ensure a productive school environment.
- Ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for both students and staff through meticulous oversight of site and classroom operations.
- Ensuring strict compliance with contractual obligations and state-specific requirements; clearly communicating these standards and expectations to all staff members to drive successful outcomes.
- Performing a broad range of managerial responsibilities including staff supervision, scheduling, technology oversight, and facility management to sustain effective site operations.
- Representing Ombudsman professionally and effectively within the local community, school district, and regional meetings; actively communicating and collaborating with families, district representatives, and community stakeholders.
- Analyzing the professional development requirements of staff, aligning training initiatives with Ombudsman's instructional vision and district-wide goals to enhance educator effectiveness.
- Planning, preparing, and delivering ChanceLight-approved instructional strategies and practices to foster engaging, active learning experiences aligned with the site's instructional vision; closely monitoring and leveraging ChanceLight resources to enhance educational outcomes.
- Preparing and presenting detailed, accurate reports on student progress, achievements, and related activities; systematically compiling, analyzing, and applying assessment data to measure student growth and inform targeted academic interventions.
- Demonstrating strong leadership, collaborative team-building skills, and exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Instructing, monitoring, and evaluating teachers and students in the effective use of instructional materials and technologies, ensuring instructional fidelity and accurate assessment of student learning; regularly observing and documenting performance and development of staff and students.
- Maintaining thorough, accurate, and confidential records of student progress and achievement, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, Ombudsman guidelines, and district policies.
- Managing student behavior positively by embodying Ombudsman's philosophy and adhering consistently to school policies; addressing disciplinary issues appropriately while providing academic support, counseling, and encouragement to students.
- Participating actively in assurance and accreditation processes, contributing positively to site performance standards and accreditation achievements.
- Providing, soliciting, and responding positively and constructively to both formal and informal feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Working collaboratively with the site-based team and both field-level and national support teams to ensure cohesive efforts and the overall success of the organization.
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support the ongoing growth and effectiveness of the school community.
‖ Qualifications Required:
- Master's degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study.
- Meet all state and district requirements for appropriate licensing and/or credentials.
- Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
- Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL administrative endorsement.
- Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in a classroom setting.
- Prior experience and/or knowledge in alternative educational services for at-risk students with diverse needs at various levels.
- Effective management skills and comprehensive knowledge of administrative and school operations, functions, and staffing requirements.
- Prior experience and highly skilled in providing professional development and/or coaching to teachers.
- Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
- Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
- Skilled leader who exhibits the characteristics of servant leadership, looking to the needs of the team and seeking to help solve problems and promote personal development.
